When I saw the job it really stood out to me because I was someone who has experience of loved ones with Cancer in the family; my dad previously had cancer. It stood out as an opportunity to really make a difference and help people.

I have always been fortunate to have worked in roles which impact people’s lives. Working in L&D at Macmillan gave me the opportunity to direct impact the lives of those who engaged with any of our learning interventions and then be better equipped to support those effected by cancer.

I have had various Cancer experiences within my family. I lost my dad when I was 10. My brother had Stage 3 cancer through 2019, we nearly lost him as well.

That triggered a re-alignment of my own values and where I wanted to go in my life.

I have a customer facing role, working directly with people who have Cancer and just knowing that you’re having an impact with one phone call and hearing the positive change in their voice is the best part of my role.
