Q&A
What made you want to apply for a role at Macmillan?
As I was applying for jobs, I saw the Macmillan name and it’s such a well-known charity that does incredible work for people affected by Cancer. I’ve lost a couple of people in my life from Cancer so I thought it would be perfect for me.
It helps that I can give back.
What is your favourite part about working for Macmillan?
So far it’s been the people I’ve been welcomed by everyone I’ve come face to face with. The culture of the teams and people in general has been excellent. I’m really enjoying my journey so far with Macmillan.
What does a typical day look like for you in your role?
There is absolutely not a typical day in Tech at Macmillan. I come in, put my headset on and it could be “I’ve forgotten my password” all the way through to investigating technical issues. It’s like solving a really cool tech puzzle.
What makes you get out of bed every morning?
Knowing that the work I do helps people that need help.
Why is Macmillan a great career choice?
Within my team, the people have been here 3 + years. Rather than coming into Macmillan to get some knowledge then move on, I want to stay here, get the knowledge and move up.
The more I learn, or do, the more I help people living with Cancer.
What do you do to look after your own wellbeing?
Can we un-invent the printer please? It’s the most common complaint and we don’t need to use paper anymore!
