About the role

The Senior Innovation Manager supports the delivery of Macmillan’s innovation initiatives, by working across various projects, supporting cross organisational teams to successfully test, pilot and scale innovations. These innovations exist to create impact for people with cancer, or to drive revenue for the organisation so that we can do more for them.

Understanding Macmillan’s customers at depth coupled with a knowledge of market trends and technologies will enable you to design, develop and deliver Macmillan innovations.

Line managing a small team and leading collaborative, cross-organisational squads, you will set project budgets, KPIs and deadlines in line with strategic objectives and targets. You possess a varied and evolving approach to innovation and rigorous application of market and customer insight.

About you:

We’re looking for someone with the following skills and experience: 

  • Extensive experience with and an understanding of innovation processes, methodologies and tools across product and/or service development.
  • Experience of managing complex projects across multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience of leading a services innovation portfolio and taking products and services from discovery to launch, including experience of briefing and undertaking insight projects (independently or via agencies), ideation, prototyping, testing and developing routes to pilot/market.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering innovations with impact. Experience of doing this within complex environments would be an advantage. For example – large organisations, healthcare, social impact environments.
  • Confidence in designing and facilitating collaborative working sessions both on and offline, using tools like Miro or similar.
  • Demonstrable line management experience.
  • A flexible and resilient approach to product development.
