Contract type: Fixed Term Contract (6 months)
Part time: 2-4 days a month, we are open to a conversation about how you work these hours and can be flexible based on availability

About the role
We are looking for a highly experienced senior leader with deep subject matter expertise to join us as a Senior Fellow – Systems Change & Investment. This is a unique and high-impact opportunity to provide strategic advice and thought leadership to help us shape the future of cancer care.
As Senior Fellow, you will provide expert insight and challenge to Macmillan’s leadership as we accelerate our work and scale our ambitions in systems transformation. You’ll advise our technical experts, Executive Leadership Team and Trustees, shape our strategic direction, and represent Macmillan externally with credibility and influence.
This flexible, part-time role is designed for someone who thrives in strategic environments, has extensive experience advising executive teams, and is ready to help us transform cancer care through influence, insight, and collaboration.
Key responsibilities:
- Act as a strategic adviser to Macmillan’s leadership on systems transformation
- Provide expert insight into the external landscape, advising on our overall approach and systems change models
- Collaborate across Macmillan to identify how we can build capabilities, partnerships, and new ways of working that enable systemic change
- Develop thought leadership content to elevate Macmillan’s external profile in healthcare and public service transformation
- Represent Macmillan externally with credibility and influence across sectors, leveraging networks and partnerships to drive change
About you
We’re looking for a highly experienced senior leader who brings:
- A proven track record in strategic leadership in one or more of the following areas: social investment, impact investment, place-based systems change and/or adoption of innovation in health and care services (please note, if you do not have this experience, we will unfortunately not be able to consider you for this role)
- Extensive experience advising executive leadership teams (please note, if you do not have this experience, we will unfortunately not be able to consider you for this role)
- Strong networks and credibility among systems leaders and influencers (please note, if you do not have this experience, we will unfortunately not be able to consider you for this role)
- Deep understanding of the UK public service and healthcare landscape
- Authoritative communication and influencing skills
- Strong alignment with Macmillan’s mission, strategy, and values
This is a part-time, flexible opportunity for someone who is already operating at a senior level and wants to make a meaningful impact through strategic advisory work.
