About the Role
In the role of Research Library and Information Officer you will sit at the heart of our Insight & Performance team, ensuring colleagues across Macmillan can quickly and confidently access the information and evidence they need.

If you’re energised by organising complex information, improving systems, and supporting evidence-based decision-making, this role offers meaningful work with national impact.
What You’ll Be Doing
Enabling access to knowledge
- Ensure colleagues can easily find and use information from internal and external knowledge sites, research libraries and databases
- Support both guided and self-serve access to evidence and research
- Help colleagues carry out literature reviews and summarise the evidence base
Managing research resources
- Oversee subscriptions to academic journals and specialist publications
- Maintain and develop the Insight & Performance SharePoint research library (the Evidence Portal)
- Monitor usage of internal and external resources and drive continuous improvement
Strengthening knowledge systems
- Support the development of knowledge management tools using Microsoft SharePoint, PowerApps and Teams
- Apply best practice in records management, information architecture and taxonomy design
- Ensure adherence to retention policies and quality standards
Supporting publications and governance
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of academic journal submission processes
- Support internal and external publication workflows
- Contribute to effective information and records management across the Insight & Performance team
Championing a learning culture
- Promote knowledge and information tools across teams
- Work collaboratively to embed good knowledge management practices across the organisation
About you
We’re looking for someone who combines technical knowledge with a service mindset and strong collaboration skills.
You’ll bring:
- In-depth experience using academic research journals, libraries and databases
- A strong understanding of records management principles
- Experience managing document libraries or content management systems (e.g. Microsoft SharePoint or similar platforms)
- A good understanding of the medical, clinical and social science research landscape
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Confidence supporting colleagues with evidence gathering and knowledge tools
You’ll thrive if you enjoy improving processes, making complex information accessible, and working with purpose in a mission-driven organisation.
