About the role
It’s an exciting time to join Macmillan Cancer Support as we have launched our new five-year strategy and work towards delivering our vision to do whatever it takes to get every person the best support today and spark a revolution in cancer care for the future.
In this rewarding role you will manage the delivery of psychological support and other wellbeing options provided by the Horizon centre for people living with cancer across Sussex.
You will provide specialist psychological support services yourself, while leading and supporting a large volunteer team who provide therapy, as well as mentoring and assessing around 12 student placements.
As volunteers are so crucial to the success of the Macmillan Horizon Centre, your ability to support, motivate and develop a team of volunteers will be essential.
You will also work in collaboration with the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust psychological therapy team, other partners and volunteers, to develop an integrated approach to the delivery of psychological support.
About you:
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- BACP or UKCP accredited post graduate (Level 7) Counsellor / Psychotherapist qualification (essential requirement)
- Experience of providing counselling and assessing people for counselling with a health condition (including experience of cancer)
- Knowledge and understanding of legislation and models of best practice applicable to psychological support therapies.
- Experience in coaching, supporting and working with a team of volunteers (desirable) or a group of individuals
- Experience in stakeholder management, including the ability to build, develop and influence relationships both internally and externally.
