This could be the opportunity for you!

We’re appointing two Partnerships & Events Interns to help us raise vital funds that support people living with cancer.

About us

At Macmillan you'll find talented people working together to do whatever it takes to support people living with cancer. We're going all out to find even better ways to help even more people who need our support. Our values are at the heart of who we are and everything we do, inspiring our thinking and guiding our actions.

Our new organisational strategy sets out how we’ll fight even harder to make every pound raised count for even more. With your help, we’ll transform cancer care for good.

About the internship

This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience over 18 months across different areas of corporate partnerships and events, guided by experienced professionals who will mentor you every step of the way.

Starting in April 2026, you will rotate between two teams within our Corporate Partnerships & Philanthropy division, spending 9 months in each team and learning on the job.

The paid internship will provide you with invaluable insight and the opportunity to develop your skills within a supportive environment at one of the UK’s most respected charities.

What you’ll gain

  • Mentorship and guidance: You’ll be paired with a dedicated mentor to support your professional development.
  • Varied hands-on experience: Rotate across two teams to explore different aspects of corporate partnerships and high-value events.
  • Skills for the future: Build confidence, communication skills, and professional networks.
  • Impactful work: Contribute to projects that raise important income that directly improves lives.

Teams you’ll join

  • Corporate Partnerships: Support new partnerships, partnership management, and operations.
  • High Value & Engagement Events: Assist with planning and delivering fundraising and donor engagement events.

What you’ll do

Corporate Partnerships:

  • Support the delivery and management of corporate partnerships by developing relationships and managing projects to drive income
  • Contribute innovative ideas and suggestions on how we can best work with our partners and proposals for new partnerships
  • Ensure accurate reporting, tracking and maintenance of donor and partnership data
  • Provide support to the team and assist in coordinating partnership day to day activity, including organising meetings, presentations and minute taking

High Value & Engagement Events:

  • Provide support to the High Value and Engagement Events team in the delivery of key fundraising and donor engagement events
  • Carry out research and make requests to secure donations of prizes and other gifts in kind to raise money for Macmillan at events
  • Support with the creation of materials and websites for events, including copywriting and proof reading
  • Play an active role in helping the team with the smooth running on the day of events including preparation, on site delivery and pack down. This may involve occasional evening and/or weekend working, time spent away from home and travelling across the UK

Who we’re looking for

We do not expect you to have any prior charity sector experience. What matters most is your enthusiasm and willingness to learn. You might be:

  • Recently out of education
  • Exploring a career change
  • Returning to work after a significant break (e.g. family leave or retirement)
  • Or simply curious about whether corporate partnerships, fundraising or the charity sector is for you

We’d love to hear from candidates who bring:

  • Basic IT literacy (Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Organisation and time management skills
  • A proactive attitude and curiosity
  • Passion for making a difference for people living with cancer
  • Previous work experience is a plus, but absolutely not essential.

You must be aged 18 or over and available to start full-time work from Monday 13th April 2026.

We recognise that the charity sector has historically lacked diversity, and we know we need to do more to change that. We’re therefore actively encouraging applications from people of underrepresented backgrounds so that we can build a team that better reflects the communities we serve. We know that diversity brings fresh perspectives, creativity, and innovation, which are qualities essential to delivering successful partnerships and events, and to making a real difference for people living with cancer.

We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and strongly encourage applications from ethnic minority and LGBTQ+ communities, disabled people, and other marginalised groups. Our goal is to create an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive, contribute, and feel valued.

Why apply?

This internship is more than just a job. It’s a chance to discover your potential, gain invaluable experience, and contribute to a cause that truly matters.
