Do you have experience working in an administrative or customer service role? Do you want to work as part of a team, providing vital support to deliver sector-leading marketing activity? Are you looking to develop a career in fundraising or marketing? If so, this could be the role for you.

About the role

We're looking for a Marketing Assistant to join our Individual Giving and Events Marketing team until 31 July 2025 to support the delivery of our sector-leading fundraising campaign, Macmillan Coffee Morning. Working collaboratively with other Marketing Assistants in the team, this role provides important administrative support across Coffee Morning and plays a key role in responding to supporter queries, delivering an excellent supporter experience.

As a team, we are responsible for the marketing and project management of several large-scale fundraising campaigns, including Macmillan Coffee Morning, Brave the Shave, Longest Day Golf Challenge, Go Sober and the Macmillan Lottery. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering a wide variety of tasks to support the delivery of Coffee Morning.  You may also be required to support our other campaigns on an ad hoc basis. The role will offer a great opportunity for you to build a core set of skills to start a career in marketing.

A typical week in this role might involve:

  • Responding to queries from supporters and internal stakeholders via email
  • Updating and sharing campaign documents
  • Organising a team meeting or away day
  • Checking, coding and logging invoices to help track campaign expenditure
  • Checking artwork and circulating for feedback and approval

About you

We are looking for someone who has a foundation in the skills and experience outlined in the section of the role profile labelled ‘To do this role, you will have...’. Please ensure you clearly demonstrate these skills and experience in your application.

Unless specified, your experience does not need to be in the charity sector. We are looking for someone with this experience and a willingness to learn about our charity context and deliver work in line with Macmillan’s values. If you meet the criteria in the role profile, we would love to hear from you!

  • You can deliver a range of tasks within a given time frame, follow processes and adapt to different tasks and contexts. You might have developed these skills in an administrative or customer service role already.
  • You will often be the first point of contact with our team. Your ability to build positive relationships and communicate clearly via telephone, email and in-person will help you succeed in this role.
  • You will have a basic level of IT literacy but will be trained on any relevant internal systems and processes when you join.
  • You will be committed to delivering your work in line with Macmillan’s values: Heart, Strength and Ambition, and your skills and experience will demonstrate how you have done this already.
  • An interest in a marketing or fundraising career would be beneficial and this will be a great role to learn and develop these skills.

Recruitment Process

The application closing date is Friday 14 February at 11:59pm, with virtual interviews planned to take place the week commencing 24 February.

The process following shortlisting will be:

  • A 60 minute interview
  • A 45 minute task
