About us
At Macmillan you'll find talented people working together to do whatever it takes to support people living with cancer. We're going all out to find even better ways to help even more people who need our support. Our values are at the heart of who we are and everything we do, inspiring our thinking and guiding our actions.
About the role
Every day at Macmillan Cancer Support, we're doing whatever it takes to help people living with cancer. The support we provide is only possible because of the incredible generosity of our supporters—and our fundraising marketing campaigns play a vital role in inspiring that support.
We're looking for a Marketing Assistant to join our Individual Giving Events Marketing team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys being organised, working collaboratively and wants to develop a career in marketing while making a real difference.
You'll play a key role in keeping our fundraising campaigns running smoothly by providing essential administrative support, delivering an excellent experience for our supporters and developing hands-on marketing skills along the way.
What you'll be doing
As a Marketing Assistant, you'll be at the heart of our fundraising marketing activity, supporting the team to deliver campaigns that inspire supporters and raise vital funds for people living with cancer.
You'll:
- Provide essential administrative support across a range of fundraising marketing campaigns, including processing invoices, tracking campaign expenditure, maintaining reports and managing campaign data.
- Respond to supporter enquiries with empathy, professionalism and excellent customer care.
- Support the delivery of fundraising marketing campaigns, developing your marketing knowledge through activities such as writing data briefs, checking campaign data, briefing creative artwork and drafting marketing copy.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across specialist teams, including Data, Email Marketing, Compliance, Supporter Donations and Content, to deliver successful campaigns.
- Build positive relationships with external agencies who help us create impactful fundraising marketing.
- Help organise team meetings, away days and other activities that contribute to a positive, inclusive and collaborative team culture.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by working in line with Macmillan's values and supporting the team to deliver the very best experience for our supporters.
About you
We're looking for someone who is organised, proactive and enjoys working with people. You don't need to have extensive marketing experience—we'll support you to develop your skills—but you'll bring enthusiasm, curiosity and a willingness to learn.
You'll have:
- Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to communicate clearly by email, over the phone and in person.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
- A customer-focused approach, with experience delivering excellent service and responding to enquiries with care and professionalism.
- The ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues, customers and external partners.
- Good attention to detail and confidence handling information accurately.
- Basic IT skills and a willingness to learn new systems and platforms—we'll provide training where needed.
- A collaborative mindset and a genuine desire to contribute to an inclusive, supportive team environment.
