Legacy Promotions Officer  (10 month Fixed Term Contract)

Hours: Full time (34.5 hours) - we are open to a conversation about how you work these hours
Location: Hybrid between home and our London office
Salary range: £35,200 - £39,200

About the role:

We're looking for a Legacy Promotions Officer to join our Legacy and In Memory Fundraising team to deliver our Free Wills Service. Working collaboratively with others, this person plays a key role in the delivery of our flagship legacy product, taking the lead on reporting, managing supporter enquiries and working closely with our partners and suppliers. Your work will be instrumental in protecting future legacy income for Macmillan, ensuring we can continue to provide support for people living with cancer long into the future.

As a team, we are responsible for promoting gifts in wills as a way to support Macmillan. We inspire and engage our supporters in order to secure future income from gifts in wills. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering Macmillan’s free will service and other products in the legacy or in memory space, to ensure the team achieves its ambitious objectives. The role is a great opportunity to build on your existing stewardship and marketing skills in a large charity context.

A typical week in this role might include:

  • Managing invoices and payments for our suppliers, ensuring we are paying for the correct number of wills at the correct price.
  • Delivering key product updates to agreed schedules. This could include briefing the website team, updating the script for our telemarketing agency and working across the wider team to ensure your project doesn’t impact anyone else’s work.
  • Leading a weekly call with an external partner, to agree key actions, check in on outstanding supporter queries and discuss reporting updates.
  • Reviewing results, reporting internally and identifying optimisations where appropriate.
  • Attending weekly catch ups with your line manager to discuss any project issues, blockers and to keep them updated on progress.

About you:

The ideal candidate will have...

  • Marketing skills: A solid foundation of marketing or project management skills, developed in a professional environment
  • Results-focus: Experience monitoring the performance or progress of a project against targets
  • Analytical/Solution-focused: A proactive approach to identifying project blockers or underperformance and a collaborative approach to finding solutions
  • Time management: Experience delivering work to set schedules and budgets
  • Communication: An ability to communicate clearly with a range of different people including supporters, via email, telephone and in person
  • Relationship management: An ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and suppliers, which enable productive collaboration on projects

Recruitment process:

The application closing date is Thurs 27th March at 11.59pm, with virtual interviews planned to take place at the beginning of/mid April

To ensure fairness and consistency to select the best candidate for this role, all of our applications are anonymised up until an interview has been confirmed so that shortlisting is based solely upon the suitability of the candidate’s experience.

We welcome applications from everyone who meet the criteria and strongly encourage individuals to apply who have a disability, impairment or health condition or individuals who identify as Black, Asian or from another minority ethnic background, as these groups are currently under-represented at Macmillan. Our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy here along with our internal employee representation body, ‘Our Voice’ and 8 Employee Network groups help us promote fairness and belonging, becoming an engaged and inclusive organisation for all our people.

If you would like to discuss your application or anything further in regards to a career at Macmillan Cancer Support please email us at TATeam@macmillan.org.uk.
