Horizon Centre Services Support Coordinator
Contract type: Permanent
Full time: 34.5 hours a week
Location: On-site at the Macmillan Horizon Centre in Brighton (with occasional work from home)
Salary Range: £25,000 - £28,000
Are you an organised, people-focused coordinator who thrives in a busy environment? Do you enjoy supporting others, keeping systems running smoothly, and building strong relationships?
We are looking for a Horizon Centre Services Support Coordinator to play a vital role in ensuring our services run effectively every day.
About the role
The Macmillan Horizon Centre is a welcoming, supportive space for people affected by cancer across Sussex. Working closely with University Hospitals Sussex and a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, we provide information, emotional support, and practical advice for anyone who needs us. Our volunteers are at the heart of what we do, and this role is key to ensuring they - and our clients - receive the best possible experience.
Based on-site at the Horizon Centre in Brighton, you will oversee the smooth running of our services support function. You’ll coordinate and supervise our business support volunteers, ensure administrative cover is always in place, and keep essential systems such as room bookings and appointments running efficiently.
This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You’ll be the go-to person for admin support, volunteer coordination, and general operational problem-solving, helping the Centre deliver high-quality services to clients, partners, and volunteers.
Key responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain administrative support capacity, ensuring volunteer and staff cover is in place each day
- Provide day-to-day administrative support for Horizon Centre support services delivered by managers, partners, and volunteers
- Recruit, select, train, mentor, and supervise business support / admin volunteers at the Centre
- Welcome volunteers at the start of their shift and ensure they are clear on tasks and priorities
- Manage and update client folders, appointments, and room booking systems
- Support the phone answering service and manage multiple email inboxes
- Collate and update data across various platforms
- Process volunteer recruitment documentation and maintain volunteer files
- Carry out general admin tasks including photocopying and electronic filing
- Provide reception cover in the information lounge when required
About you
You are someone who enjoys working with people, juggling multiple priorities, and keeping things running smoothly. You will bring:
- Proven experience using MS Office and other digital platforms (e.g. booking or scheduling systems)
- Strong planning, organisation, and prioritisation skills
- Experience supporting or leading a team
- A friendly, approachable manner and the ability to build positive relationships
- Adaptability, flexibility, and confidence working in a busy environment
- Ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and discretion
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions
- Experience in customer service (particularly in a healthcare setting) is a bonus
This role is based on-site at the Horizon Centre in Brighton, so applicants must live in Brighton or the surrounding areas.
In return, we offer a range of benefits including:
- 25 days holiday plus flexible bank holiday options, increasing by 1 day every year of service up to 30 days
- Pension matched up to 7.5%
- 120+ learning and development offers, with access to external professional qualifications
- Holiday buying and selling scheme, life insurance, free wills, retail discounts and much more
