About us
At Macmillan you'll find talented people working together to do whatever it takes to support people living with cancer. We're going all out to find even better ways to help even more people who need our support. Our values are at the heart of who we are and everything we do, inspiring our thinking and guiding our actions.
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced marketing leader to head up our Strategic Marketing Planning function within the Engagement Directorate, covering a six month career break.
You’ll be joining Macmillan at a pivotal moment. We’re reshaping how we reach and support people with cancer and how we inspire and engage our supporters. This role will be central to unlocking the power of data and accelerating several key shifts in how we plan and deliver marketing and audience experiences:
- From product to audience-based planning
- From mass to personalised experiences and communications
- From reacting to customer behaviour to responding to anticipated behaviour
- From managing interactions to managing journeys
- From journeys largely focussed on email to multi-channel journeys
This is not a role focused on keeping things ticking over. We need someone who can help shape how we are going to drive transformation—bringing fresh thinking, clarity and direction to how we communicate, engage and deliver value for supporters and people living with cancer.
What you’ll lead
You’ll head a talented team responsible for:
- Developing a streamlined, centralised integrated marketing and engagement strategy—and overseeing delivery across the organisation
- Marketing effectiveness and performance insight
- Building marketing capability across the directorate, including PPC, SEO, email, and elements of digital operations
- Managing our media agency relationship
- Supporting planning and prioritisation across the wider directorate
What you’ll bring
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring extensive experience in multichannel strategic marketing or engagement planning, and a proven ability to build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and partners. You’ll have led complex strategic programmes, motivated high channel strategic marketing or engagement planning, and a proven ability to build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and partners. You’ll have led complex strategic programmes, motivated high performing teams through change, and delivered marketing and engagement strategies at scale. You’ll also have deep knowledge of the modern marketing landscape, emerging trends, and relevant regulations.
