Our values are at the heart of who we are and everything we do, inspiring our thinking and guiding our actions.
About the Role
As Head of Brand, you’ll be responsible for the strategic direction, creative leadership, and guardianship of the Macmillan brand. You’ll bring clarity, inspiration, and consistency to how we express who we are — across every channel, team, and touchpoint. This is a senior leadership role that sits at the heart of our organisation. You’ll lead a talented team and agencies, and work closely with colleagues across fundraising, services, policy, and partnerships — ensuring our brand reflects the full power and impact of what we do.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the alignment of Macmillan’s brand to organisational strategy, ensuring that strategic and creative development supports and enhances our progress against our organisational strategic objectives.
- Bring ambition and challenge to our work, helping us realise the full power and potential of our brand.
- Work as an integral part of the Communications, Brand and Content division leadership team to develop and lead a joined-up strategy which furthers our goal to engage the UK public and inspire them to lend their time, money and voice to our cause.
- Ensure our brand expression is accessible, inclusive, and emotionally resonant — while remaining consistent and distinctive.
- Put people affected by cancer at the heart of everything — bringing your curiosity and learning mindset and using insight, research, and lived experience to guide your decisions.
- Manage and develop a passionate and high-performing brand team, while supporting cross-organisational brand capability.
- Act as a trusted advisor to teams across Macmillan — from fundraising and volunteering to corporate partnerships — helping them use the brand effectively and with confidence.
- Provide strategic input and brand leadership to senior stakeholders, including the Executive Leadership Team and Trustees.

- A proven track record of evolving and strengthening established brands while staying true to their core purpose.
- Exceptional creative judgement, with the ability to translate strategic insight into powerful ideas and executions.
- A growth mindset and focus on work that delivers real tangible impact and outcomes.
- Excellent leadership skills, with a proven track record of building and leading high performing teams where every colleague can thrive and do their best work.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills — with the ability to influence, inspire, and align diverse internal and external audiences.
- Experience leading integrated brand campaigns and cross-functional teams.
- A strong understanding of inclusive, accessible, and ethical branding principles.
- A genuine passion for Macmillan’s mission and the people we serve.
