About the role
We're looking for an experienced Financial Operations Team Leader to lead a busy Financial Operations team responsible for ensuring income and expenditure activities are processed accurately, efficiently and in line with agreed service standards. Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, you'll provide day-to-day leadership, maintain strong financial controls and ensure the delivery of a high-quality service to colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation.
You'll play a key role in driving operational excellence, developing team capability and identifying opportunities to improve processes and ways of working. Working collaboratively with colleagues across Finance, Fundraising, Services and external partners, you'll help ensure every transaction is managed effectively, supporting Macmillan's ability to maximise the impact of every pound raised for people living with cancer.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop a team of Finance Operations colleagues, creating a high-performing, inclusive and collaborative working environment.
- Ensure income and expenditure transactions are processed accurately and within agreed service level agreements (SLAs), KPIs and month-end deadlines.
- Maintain strong financial controls through effective reconciliations, reviews and approval of financial transactions.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, delivering excellent customer service and resolving operational issues.
- Ensure team processes are documented, cross-trained and continuously improved to reduce risk and increase efficiency.
- Support month-end, year-end and audit activities, ensuring accurate financial records and timely reporting.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, helping to enhance systems, processes and ways of working across Financial Operations
About you
The skills and experience we are looking for in the role are:
- Experience leading and developing operational finance, accounts receivable, income processing or similar teams.
- Ability to build and motivate high-performing teams and drive excellent service delivery.
- Experience working with financial systems, controls and reconciliations.
- Strong understanding of income processing and/or accounts receivable activities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Experience supporting month-end, year-end and audit processes.
- Good Excel and data analysis skills.
- A proactive approach to problem solving, continuous improvement and adapting to change.
