About Us

Our values are at the heart of who we are and everything we do, inspiring our thinking and guiding our actions. We strive to build a more diverse organisation, where everyone feels empowered to be their best self to work.

Our new organisational strategy sets out how we’ll fight even harder to make every pound raised count for even more. With your help, we’ll transform cancer care for good.

About the role

To help us manage a significant increase in activity during our busiest time of year, we’re recruiting 6 Donations & Recognition Advisors to support the delivery of our services during Peak Season. This seasonal surge is driven by major fundraising campaigns such as Coffee Morning, Brave the Shave, and Go Sober, which generate a high volume of supporter engagement and donations across all areas of our work.

As part of the Supporter Care department, you’ll be working across our Gift Aid, Donations Processing, and Donations Queries teams. You'll gain hands-on experience in supporter care, learning all there is to know about donation processing and donor engagement. Plus, you'll be at the heart of our mission, ensuring every contribution is acknowledged and celebrated.

In this crucial role, you’ll help ensure we process high-volume donations accurately and efficiently while handling supporter donation queries and helping maximise supporters donations by processing donations for the Gift Aid scheme. Using multiple systems, including CRM, SMS (our internal income system), SharePoint, DotDigital, Raiser's Edge, and Microsoft Office tools, you'll follow internal processes to complete tasks independently.

You’ll also play a key role in delivering meaningful and personalised thank-you letters and cards to our supporters, acknowledging the difference their contributions make to people living with cancer.

This role also involves supporting and collaborating with internal teams across Macmillan – including Finance and Fundraising – to ensure donations, supporter communications, and event registrations are managed effectively. You will also undertake a range of administrative duties to support the smooth and effective operation of the Donations & Recognition team.

About you

The skills and experience we are looking for include:

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver accurate work in a timely manner to meet deadlines and targets
  • Comfort with repetitive tasks and experience in high-volume data processing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Customer Relationship Management systems
  • Customer service experience and strong written communication skills

Recruitment Process

  • The application closing date is Sunday 25th May 2025

  • Interviews will take place week commencing Monday 2nd June and candidates invited to interview will also need to complete a written task on Word or Email & an Excel task

  • So we can support you to be your best at any stage of the application or interview process, please contact Macmillan TA Team TATeam@macmillan.org.uk for advice and to discuss any reasonable adjustments.

  • To ensure fairness and consistency to select the best candidate for this role, all our applications are anonymised up until an interview has been confirmed.

Please submit your application as soon as possible as we reserve the right to change the closing date of our vacancies.

We welcome applications from everyone who meet the criteria and strongly encourage individuals to apply who have a disability, impairment or health condition or individuals who identify as Black, Asian or from another minority ethnic background, as these groups are currently under-represented at Macmillan. Our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy here along with our internal employee representation body, ‘Our Voice’ and 8 Employee Network groups help us promote fairness and belonging, becoming an engaged and inclusive organisation for all our people.

If you would like to discuss your application or anything further in regards to a career at Macmillan Cancer Support please email us at TATeam@macmillan.org.uk.
