About us

At Macmillan Cancer Support, every piece of content has the power to inform, comfort, and inspire someone facing cancer. We’re looking for a strategic, collaborative leader to transform how we plan, create and deliver content, so the right message reaches the right people at the moments that matter most.

This is more than a content role.
You’ll be the driving force behind a smarter, more connected content ecosystem, bringing together teams across content, communications, brand and the wider organisation to ensure everything we produce is purposeful, prioritised, and impactful.

You’ll take ownership of the entire content journey, from capturing long-term plans to managing demand and streamlining workflows. By creating a single, clear view of content activity across Macmillan, you’ll help us cut through complexity and focus on what truly makes a difference for people living with cancer.

What you’ll make happen

  • Build and lead a unified, organisation-wide content plan that aligns teams and sharpens our voice
  • Champion audience-first storytelling, ensuring real experiences are at the heart of everything we create
  • Oversee and prioritise a diverse pipeline of content, from video and photography to print and digital—maximising impact and efficiency
  • Transform how teams commission and collaborate on content, embedding smarter, more strategic ways of working
  • Drive innovation in content systems, tools, and processes to deliver high-quality, compliant work at scale
  • Lead and empower a team where inclusivity, ambition, and continuous learning thrive
  • Establish a new team, taking over management of two existing members of staff

What you’ll bring

  • Proven expertise in content planning and production across multiple formats
  • A deep understanding of workflows, digital asset management, and content systems
  • The ability to balance competing priorities and influence stakeholders at every level
  • A passion for creating meaningful, audience-centred content
  • Strong leadership skills with a commitment to developing and supporting others
  • Proven line management experience to develop and motivate a team.
