We’re looking for an ambitious Challenge Events Team Manager with strong leadership, project and budget management skills.
About the role
We’re looking for a passionate and dedicated Challenge Events Team Manager to oversee the Macmillan Mighty Hikes series, a sector-leading mass-participation product raising over £13million to support people living with cancer.
You will have responsibility for the strategy and development of the product and account management of our event and media agencies, whilst leading a high performing team of eight.
You will need to demonstrate:
· A track record of meeting ambitious targets
· Strong leadership and project management to coordinate the activities of a fast-paced team
· Excellent financial and account management skills
All the above will be essential to meet your key objectives of delivering the 2026 series and planning for 2027, with a focus on optimising net fundraised income, whilst overseeing the management of high-value, complex marketing and stewardship campaigns.
You’ll be rewarded by joining a fun and high-performing team at one of the UK’s most loved charity brands. You will also be rewarded knowing your work is making a real difference to people living with cancer.
This role does require weekend work (although not at your desk) as you’ll be out and about meeting, cheering and thanking our amazing runners, hikers and cyclists. Any offers on this role are made subject to a criminal records disclosure check or equivalent.
About you
You should have demonstrable experience of:
· Leadership and Team Management: Inspiring the team to high levels of performance and championing collaboration and inclusivity.
· Relationship Management: Leading our relationships with key internal stakeholders, external agencies and suppliers to maximise opportunities for our sector-leading series.
· Project Delivery: Responsible for strategic planning, multi-channel marketing, delivery and optimisations of your fundraising product portfolio.
· Negotiation: Lead on negotiating complex supplier relationships to maximise long term value to Macmillan.
· Financial Management: Accountability for substantial income and expenditure budgets, responsible for reforecasting and reporting on performance to senior leadership.
· Market Knowledge: Understanding of fundraising, events and relevant health and safety and best practice.
