About us

At Macmillan, we do whatever it takes to support people living with cancer. Our fundraising teams play a critical role in making that support possible – and technology is key to helping them raise more, reach more people and work more effectively. That’s where you come in.

We’re looking for a Business Analyst to help shape and continuously improve Macmillan’s technology landscape, with a strong focus on supporting our fundraising and income-generation teams. You’ll work at the heart of our digital and technology teams, partnering with colleagues across the organisation to turn complex problems into clear, value-driven solutions that help maximise our impact for people affected by cancer.

What you’ll be doing

As a Business Analyst at Macmillan, you’ll support the delivery and optimisation of products, platforms and systems across our technology portfolio, working closely with colleagues in Fundraising, Product and Technology.

Your role will include:

  • Working with fundraising stakeholders to understand their goals, challenges and opportunities, and identifying where technology can help them raise more funds and deliver great supporter experiences.

  • Exploring problems, opportunities and user needs, and defining clear, value-led solutions aligned to Macmillan’s strategic priorities.

  • Partnering with Product Managers to engage stakeholders and define proposed changes and their impact.

  • Facilitating workshops and interviews using a range of analysis techniques, such as root cause and fit-gap analysis.

  • Mapping current and future fundraising and organisational capabilities and documenting clear as-is and to-be processes.

  • Producing high-quality requirements, including user stories, acceptance criteria and contributions to Product Requirements Documents (PRDs).

  • Supporting data analysis, data mapping and migration activities where required, particularly where data supports fundraising insight and performance.

  • Working closely with internal technology teams and external delivery partners throughout the full delivery lifecycle – from discovery and procurement through to testing, go-live and continuous improvement.

  • Taking part in testing activities, including creating test scripts and supporting functional, smoke and user acceptance testing.

  • Building strong, trusted relationships and promoting joined-up ways of working across Macmillan.

What you’ll bring

You’ll be an experienced Business Analyst who enjoys working with stakeholders, is comfortable with complexity, and is motivated by enabling teams – particularly fundraising teams – to succeed.

You’ll have:

  • A formal Business Analysis qualification or equivalent professional experience.

  • Strong analytical skills and a curiosity about how organisations work.

  • Proven experience capturing and documenting user requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.

  • Experience working in Agile teams, with a solid understanding of Agile and Lean approaches.

  • Confidence facilitating workshops and stakeholder discussions.

  • Experience working across a range of technologies, including custom-built solutions, enterprise platforms and SaaS.

  • Strong process mapping skills, with experience documenting both current and future-state processes.

  • Experience in data analysis and data modelling.

  • Experience working with external delivery partners and internal technology teams.

  • Excellent organisational skills, with a keen eye for detail and high-quality documentation.

  • Good commercial awareness and an understanding of core business functions such as Finance, HR, Marketing and Operations. (Experience supporting fundraising or income-generation teams is a plus, but not essential.)

The impact you’ll make

By working closely with fundraising, Product and Project teams, you’ll help deliver technology solutions that enable Macmillan to raise vital funds more effectively. Your work will directly support the sustainability of our services and ensure we can continue to be there for people living with cancer.
