Help shape the future of legacy income at Macmillan Cancer Support.
At Macmillan Cancer Support, we exist to do whatever it takes to support people living with cancer. Legacies play a vital role in making that possible, helping us continue to be there for people affected by cancer today and in the future. We’re looking for an experienced Senior Legacy Income Team Manager to join our Legacy Income team and play a key role in shaping our strategy, improving how we work and leading a team responsible for a significant and important portfolio of legacy cases.
About the role
This is a varied leadership role combining strategic thinking, people management, project delivery, and leadership of a team responsible for case management, audit and operations.
You’ll contribute to divisional and team planning, turning strategy into action by leading projects that improve our processes, performance and effectiveness. You’ll also lead a team responsible for the management of Legacy Officers and Legacy Income Assistants, delivery of the internal team audit, and progression of the team plan, creating an environment where people feel supported, empowered and able to deliver their best work. Your work will help to ensure that Macmillan receives its full entitlement from legacy gifts, while maintaining excellent relationships with executors, solicitors and other stakeholders. You will not manage a caseload yourself, but will facilitate the team in managing their caseloads efficiently and effectively. You will be responsible for ensuring that we appropriately acknowledge legacy gifts to continuously improve the experience of those we work with. Alongside this, you’ll identify opportunities to make our processes more efficient and effective, using and sharing data and insight to drive continuous improvement.
Just as importantly, you’ll help build Macmillan’s reputation with the legal profession and promote the importance of legacy income across the organisation – creating opportunities to deepen relationships and support future charitable income.
About you
You’ll have a sound understanding of charity legacy administration or estate administration within private practice, together with the ability to support people managing legacy gifts. You’ll be an experienced people leader who knows how to create a high-performing, supportive team through effective coaching, development and performance management. You’ll be confident managing complex people challenges and role modelling the behaviours and values expected at Macmillan.
You’ll also bring:
- Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience of managing projects and delivering improvements.
- The ability to analyse performance information and use it to make informed decisions.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accurate, compliant administration.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- The confidence to work collaboratively with colleagues across Macmillan, external advisers, solicitors and other stakeholders.
This is an opportunity to use your specialist expertise and leadership skills to make a genuine difference. Your work will help ensure that every legacy entrusted to Macmillan is handled with care, professionalism and integrity, maximising the income that enables us to be there for people living with cancer. If you’re an experienced legacy professional who wants to combine specialist knowledge with strategic influence and inspiring people leadership, we’d love to hear from you.
